SilentPrint Office Launched

A “lite” version of FunAsset’s batch printing software, SilentPrint, is now available to try for free and buy for just £69.

The new release, called SilentPrint Office, is intended to plug the home and small business batch printing market, which other versions of SilentPrint did not necessarily address.

“We have found SilentPrint becoming increasingly popular with the home market which tends to use it for batch printing digital photographs,” states Mark Williams, Marketing Coordinator for FunAsset. “Small businesses, that do not necessarily batch print the same volume of documents as larger organisations or those involved in production printing, have also seen the benefit of using SilentPrint but have been unable to justify spending £249 - even though, over a short period of time, it will save them much more money than this!”

The changes made to SilentPrint Office when compared to other versions are in the main based around how quickly documents are processed.

The PLUS functionality found in SilentPrint Office PLUS, Pro and Server enables another document to be processed as soon as the Windows Print Spooler has finished spooling the previous one. This functionality, as the name suggests, is unavailable to SilentPrint Office which instead waits until the previous document has physically printed before processing the next.

Mark continues: “It appears most home and small business users are not too concerned about how quickly a batch of documents is printed but are more interested in removing the hassle and the time they waste manually printing each one. By introducing SilentPrint Office we are able to satisfy the low volume batch printing market at a price that is affordable even to individuals.”

Despite the reduction in speed when compared to other versions, SilentPrint Office can still print documents far more quickly than using a manual process. Not only that, any number of documents can be “thrown” at it and the supported file types remain the same as SilentPrint Office PLUS.

Other changes evident in the new release are a reduction in the number of Watched folder to printer combinations (Tasks) (now two) and the absence of the Load Balancing feature.

“Most homes and small businesses only have one or two printers so most of the 20 Tasks available with SilentPrint Office PLUS are redundant,” comments Mark. “Furthermore, the Load Balancing feature which has proved popular with medium and high volume users is not present for the same reason. With SilentPrint Office, the home and small business user can benefit from simple and intuitive batch printing but no longer has to “pay” for features and functionality they are unlikely to use.”

Visit the Support section of the website to download a 15-day trial version of SilentPrint Office.

Trial installations of SilentPrint Office PLUS, Pro and Server are available for download but will require a temporary License Key from FunAsset.
